Marcus Weiss is one of the most important and versatile saxophone players of today.

His repertoire includes all the genres that make part of the short history of saxophone, since the impressionist France till nowadays.

With innumerous presentations of new pieces he contributes to the enlargement of the saxophone repertoire as well to the shaking of the idea of classical saxophone.

Marcus Weiss was born in Basel,1961, and he studied saxophone with Iwan Roth at Basel Superior School of Music and with Frederick L. Hemke  at Northwestern University, Chicago.

Won the Soloist Award given by the SchweizerischerTonkünstlerverein in 1989.

Played with various European orchestras including KlangforumWien, Ensemble Contrechamps, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Modern, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Die DeutscheKammerphilharmonie.

His concerts take him to several festivals such: WienModern, WittenerTagefürNeueKammermusik, DonaueschingerTagefürNeueMusik, Festival d’Automne de Paris,  BiennaleMünchen, die TagefürNeueMusikZürich, die SalzburgerFestspiele, Eclat in Stuttgart, DarmstädterFerienkurse, denWarschauerHerbst, Berlin, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, USA and Japan.

He is a founder member of the ACCANTO TRIO with Yukiko Sugawara (piano) and Christian Dierstein (percussion), with more than 50 works written specially for this formation, and the XASAX ENSEMBLE which repertoire includes works from the pre-renascence till contemporary music.

Since 2005 Marcus Weiss plays with the singers Dominique Vellarde and Raitis Grigalisno forming NEUMA TRIO. They play works written for this formation based on the middle age music.

Marcus Weiss regularly gives courses in several superior schools of music such as: Royal Academy of Music London, Universidad de Alcala Madrid, Universität der Künsteem Berlim, UniversitätfürMusikemViena, USA, Boston, New York, Chicago and TakefuInternationalComposition in Japan.

Since 1995 Marcus Weiss is teacher of Saxophone and Chamber Music Basel Superior School of Music.

Caovva Sax Quartet

The members of Caovva quartet are professional saxophonists based in Colombia were they perform as saxophone professors of the main universities of this country. The players of our quartet includes Magister Agustin Castro, professor of saxophone at Universidad de Caldas in the city of Manizales, Dr. Javier Ocampo, professor of saxophone at Conservatorio Antonio Maria Valencia in the city of Cali, Dr. Esneider Valencia, professor of saxophone at Universidad de Antioquia in the city of Medellín and Magister Cesar Villamil, professor of saxophone at Universidad Distrital in the city of Bogotá. What have brings us together is our common interest on promoting the artistic production by Latin American composers. In this case, a selection of the chamber music for saxophone by Aldemaro Romero.

Gilberto Bernardes is a young Portuguese saxophonist and new media artist. 

He holds a Ph.D. in digital media from the University of Porto (Portugal) under the UT Austin-Portugal Program, a master in music performance from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, a Bachelors in music performance from the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (Porto, Portugal), and a  "Premier Prix" in saxophone and chamber music from the ENM d'Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Bernardes performs regurarly in Europe, especially in Portugal and Spain. Of notice his presence at the International Saxophone Week (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) with the premier of the saxophone transcription of "Dialogues de l'Ombre Double" by Pierre Boulez, and on the 2009 Gaudeamus Music Week at the Bimhuis (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). He also counts with several solo performances with orchestras, such as Gulbenkian Orchestra and Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa. 

Bernardes is a founding member of the Oporto Saxophone Quartet (sponsored by Yamaha), duo Blank Page, and Unisax Quartet.

He is an Assistant Professor at Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (Polytechnic Institute of Porto), and saxophone teacher at Espinho Professional Music School.
